Good morning. I am a member of a local church here in Orlando FL as well as a member of its security team. We have an upcoming seminar with several well known pastors that's going to be held at our church and my question is; would it be wise or prudent to have have one member of security posted at the front of the church brandishing an AR-15 as a show of force to any would-be attackers?

Thank you for your time and commitment to helping small security teams like mine with invaluable knowledge and resources.

No, I would not do that. Our churches need to be open for people to come to Christ and that will turn people away. Should you have one available if needed? That depends on your threat level. But, patrolling with an AR is not a wise idea.

As an American behind the iron curtain the apprehensive feeling of soviet troops carrying AK's superceded the beauty of viewing the botanical garden at the city park in Constanta Romania. Worshippers may get a similar apprehension. I know where you are coming from sir.
