Hey, Keith!

I'm so grateful for this article. It's sobering and much needed. The way you wrote it is so instructive as well as cautionary. God bless you tons! 🙏🏼❤️

I was an AI for SWAT training that some newer members of Pasadena swat attended. While young and green they conducted themselves professionally. With that said the two ofc who were mentioned should be terminated. Their conduct was not just poor judgement it was reckless and demonstrated a lack of judgment and knowledge. The standard is the standard for the reason. I’m sure this is not the first incident. In fact I personally know of an incident like this that occurred at a Sheriff’s office in Southern California. However, this particular incident occurred between SWAT team members. They had been conducting sims training within a shoot House. The team leader had to depart for a while, and upon return stated that he had downloaded all his live ammunition himself. However, the RSO for the shoot House did not confirm this. The team leader and other members then began quick drawing on each other and shooting sims at each other. However, the team leader shot one of his men with live ammo. Luckily it was not fatal. But as in the case mentioned in the article, nothing was done other than a written reprimand. Numerous members on the team lost confidence in the team leader however no one spoke up and requested or demanded that he removed himself nor did the team leader show the professionalism and Ethics to do so himself. That event occurred within the past decade and I still mentor and teach their SWAT team. And the new members who have come on board have the same lack of confidence in the then team leader now SWAT Commander. Character counts and matters. There should be a large public out cry that these officers and any other officer conducts himself in this moronic immature and risky play is not only removed from any special assignment but should be removed from the sworn position that they took an oath to uphold the standard and defend. If we allow the decay of these things, you cannot get upset when the Foundation eventually crumbles.

Thanks for sharing. Absolutely, great, solid safety regulation that cannot be excused or forgotten.

Well written; truth that we should all burn into our mindset.

Whenever I do dry fire practice with my TitanX laser pistol, the 14 year old dog I rescued from the local animal shelter immediately leaves the room. I've wondered why, since I've never pointed the laser anywhere near her. My theory is that sometime in her past, someone scared her with something similar.

I have been on church security teams for years. I have never seen horse play like this when I was around. One guy did drop his firearm in the pastor's office years ago and it didn't go off. He apologized and said he was using a new holster. It was not pointed at me when it hit the floor, thank God!
