Really sad. This brought tears to my eyes. I pray that I will have the same courage as Eddie if I’m ever in the same or similar situation. I(I believe that I would)I’m usually work safety duty at the Children’s Building at my church. We have five teams that rotate every week.

Thank You Keith for your excellent advice. Praying for all that are affected by this tragedy.

This is indeed a tough one Keith and my thoughts went quickly to our own team lead... He's always there, always setting the example, always out front and visible as he should be. Our brother in Mississippi died doing a brave thing. God bless him.

As Keith said, "...while this wasn’t a terrorist attack, it was another reminder that evil doesn’t need a motive to strike—only opportunity." Too many people only think about being the target, not the outcome of unrelated violence, which is much more likely.

While we all mourn the passing of this gentleman, there are points taken from the debrief provided by Keith. I typed a much longer comment and then erased it in an effort to not detract from the loss of this Hero. It does, however, create talking points to improve the preparation of our team for next Sunday.

Lord,

I can’t begin to know the grief felt by the family and church family of this hero. I ask You to comfort them in this time of loss. I thank You for the calling you placed on this gentleman and the men and women in this group. I pray safety over all as we prepare for days ahead. In all things, we give you the praise and honor. Amen!

John 15:13 is my life scripture, and one I adhered to when I worked the street. God bless our brother, his family, and his church. He is now walking a beat on streets of gold!

Breaks my heart. Especially for those kids. They’ll always remember that. Just plain evil. God be with them all.

Oh so sad. Yet, we know he accepted the risk, as anyone on a security team needs to truly mentally do. Yes, a hero. A hero as soon as he honestly made that decision. Prayers for his family and entire congregation.

Once again. The parking lot. Need we say anymore?
