Kieth? With open carry now in Louisiana, if we had a stranger come in with a weapon openly carried, what would be the proper protocol? I am retired LEO, but one of two armed members of the team. Any given Sunday, we usually have 2-3 unarmed team members. I am subscribed and really enjoy your insight.

We have open carry and constitutional carry where I am at. We have a policy that if you’re gonna bring a gun to church it has to be concealed. We also do not allow open carry or long guns. If someone starts approaching with open carry, we tell them to go secure their firearm in their car

Thank God no one was hurt! Thanks for sharing this info. I didn't see any national headlines about this incident, and I'm sure I wouldn't have learned about it if it weren't for you sharing it. Much appreciated.

If this doesn’t get your church to understand the importance of having an armed security/safety team nothing will! They are incredibly lucky this individual didn’t start shooting people immediately upon entering the building. WHEN SECONDS COUNT LEO’S ARE MINUTES AWAY!!! Praise God everything worked out OK!

This incident occurred directly across the street from our church. The Mass was over at 11:15am at our church.

We have literally begged to have a trained security team. Refused by Diocese of Venice Fl. Not even allowed to have an AED. I carry one in my car in case it is needed. No bollards at the front door either.

Because of this, I CC to every Mass with two of my pistols. Armory XP and S&W. Extra clips with me. I train weekly with a female shooting club.

We are nextdoor to the David Lawrence Mental Health facility also. With another 80 some bed facility going up on the other side.

We are 2 minutes from I-75. A great getaway for someone.

The whole logistics is scary and I take situational awareness seriously.

Thank you! And ty for reminding us to pray for Angel, because I would have forgotten, I think. I am reminded that God can and does help people like him. Christians from Jesus Films have shared a couple of times how radical Muslims have received visions or dreams of Jesus, which led to them learning the truth about Jesus and greatly convicting them of their wrongs. In the particular instance I am thinking of, the suicide bomber, the leader of a militant group, and hundreds of his men turned to faith in Jesus.

I’m so Grateful this turned out as it did, God bless the quick thinking staff, their actions definitely made a difference. Thank the Lord for the rapid response from Law Enforcement, as well.

Was this little terrorist another illegal alien? Maybe a wannabe gangster?

In order to protect parishioners from being harmed or killed, is it worth having the one or more staff members armed in the foyer? Granted this is in Florida where the Second Amendment is alive and well, so I am surprised that the terrorist was allowed to be arrested instead of being dispatched.

Could it be these morons are demonstrating their defiance to our Amazing President? Maybe they think that President Trump will resign and stop deporting people if they shoot at us??

The motivation for this attempt will be interesting. Maybe this punk and the others are being paid by Trump’s enemies?? I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out to be the result of the absolute deranged hatred towards Our President.
