Completly agree with you on fire staging. Granted, my Bureau may have changed policy since I retired 10 yrs ago, but I had problems with responding and then sitting blocks away waiting for the all clear by PD. Every minute standing by is minutes taken away from the 'golden hour' of the victim(s). The Columbine shooting is prime example. Don't get me wrong, I have NO desire to dodge bullets, not my job, but common sense needs to prevail at some point. Officers inside are busy and on alert, they are meds eyes and ears until we get in. In this incident it sounds like fire/med did a satisfactory job, following their written protocols. When I was otj I always turned a radio to the police channel just to monitor. Sometimes saving a few seconds. Good job anticipating a MCI by fire 5, more seconds saved for the receiving hospitals, trauma teams assembled and ready. Thank God I never responded to a school shooting, the emotional toll must be off the charts. Prayers for the victims families and all the responders. We are living in a very evil age. Thank you Mr. Graves for your contunued service.
