Church security is a crucial aspect of creating a safe worship environment. A well-prepared security team is key to ensuring peace and safety. The comprehensive Team Daily Checklist is designed to keep your security team on track, covering every critical aspect of your daily routine. Here's a breakdown of the checklist with insights into why each step is vital.

  1. TEAM Prayer Initiating the day with a TEAM prayer is a pivotal aspect of our security routine. This moment is dedicated to strengthening our relationship with God, expressing gratitude for the guidance and sacrifice of Jesus, and seeking divine protection and discernment for the tasks ahead. It's a time to ask for wisdom in identifying potential threats, courage to face challenges, and the ability to make sound decisions in protecting the flock. This prayer unites the team under a shared spiritual purpose, reinforcing the moral and ethical foundation essential for our security mission. As we stand together in prayer, we are reminded of our greater purpose and the divine support that guides our actions in safeguarding the church community.

  2. Roll Call A roll call is crucial for accountability. It ensures all team members are present and ready for duty. This step allows the team leader to assess the day's staff power and make any necessary adjustments to the security plan. Consistent attendance is key to maintaining a strong and reliable team. Even if there is only two of you, roll call is important.

  3. Intel Updates Staying informed about any potential threats or significant changes is vital. This could include updates on personal disputes within the community, changes in service schedules, or other relevant intel. Such knowledge enables the team to anticipate and prepare for specific scenarios, enhancing the overall security response. As an example, our team currently has three issues brewing in our church. From couples with restraining orders, to battling child protection orders, to a stalker. It’s time to break all of this down.

  4. Team Assignments (Positioning) Clear team assignments ensure that every area of the church is adequately covered. By strategically positioning team members, you can ensure a rapid and coordinated response to any incident. This step is about leveraging the strengths of each team member and optimizing their placement for maximum effectiveness.

  5. Changes in Team Schedule for the Day Flexibility is key in security operations. Informing the team of any schedule changes ensures that everyone is on the same page and can adapt to the day's requirements. This step helps in maintaining a seamless operation, even when unexpected changes occur.

  6. Weapons and Light Check Ensuring that all security equipment is in working order is fundamental. This includes checking weapons, flashlights, and other essential gear. Regular equipment checks prevent malfunctions and ensure the team is always ready to respond effectively.

  7. Radio Sync and Check Communication is the lifeline of any security operation. A thorough radio sync and check guarantee that team members can stay in constant contact, share information quickly, and coordinate their actions effectively.

  8. Sweep Sanctuary for IEDs and Anything Out of the Ordinary Regular sweeps of the sanctuary for IEDs or unusual items are crucial in proactive threat detection. This practice helps in identifying and mitigating risks before they escalate, ensuring a safe environment for worshippers.

  9. Children’s Area Sweep and Lockdown Codes The safety of children is of utmost importance. Sweeping the children's area and ensuring lockdown codes are in place safeguards the youngest and most vulnerable members of the congregation. This step involves checking for obstructions and ensuring all safety protocols are ready.

  10. Parking Lot Patrol Rotation Security extends beyond the church's interior. By rotating patrols in the parking lot, the team can deter potential threats, monitor suspicious activity, and offer a sense of security to arriving and departing congregation members.

  11. Lock-Up Procedure At the end of the day, a thorough lock-up is essential. This ensures the church is secure after hours, protecting the premises from unauthorized access or potential threats.

Conclusion: Your church security team diligence and preparedness are the backbone of a safe worship environment. The Team Daily Checklist is a comprehensive guide to ensure that no aspect of church security is overlooked. Download it now to enhance your team's effectiveness and ensure peace of mind for your congregation.
