Keith, Today a gunman attacked Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Gunman rammed his truck into the church, and opened fire, and was shot and killed by church security!

Thank you for the bulletin, brother!!! There is a church security network that started in Tucson Arizona and spread out across Phoenix that I’m part of through my church. We have been training for such a time as this. It’s called Arizona Church Security Network and there is a website. God bless you and yours!!!!

Thanks for this. I'll forward to some I know.

Checked it out. If I'm back in AZ, I may, repeat, may just show up at the door, pay and attend. Problem is I haven't been told what my schedule is by you-know-who. LOL!

If I may, my friends...my wife and I went to the range after work yesterday, and I went again today. While some of our skills were still OK, some had degraded. May I respectfully suggest knocking off the rust? If you're able to move while doing so, please do so. God love you.

I have a somewhat different situation that I would like advice on. We are a relatively new church, and not all that big. We normally run around 200 of all ages on Sunday mornings. We are meeting in a school, and our service is in a theater style auditorium, with thick seats and stairs. I am the head usher, and security is part of my department, with no regular security people. We have a retired police officer who splits his time between here (Midwest) and the East Coast, and a recent volunteer who I have not met with yet because he's been out of state. I have myself and three others who have a CCP. The school has two entrances that are widely separated, one on the north, and one on the east. Because we are not in a permanent location with permanent signage, I have not felt that we are a high security risk. I hate to give too much more in the way of details, but wondered if I could get advice in regards to the current security environment.

I'll not reply, as I'm not qualified, but God Bless You, brother. I suspect you may be able to contact Keith directly by other means. Take care, you're a good man.

I love these words, "... preparation should serve peace, not replace it"

This is the reason for a safety team. This is the reason for all members of the church to be the watchmen (and women) that God has called us to be for our church, our families, and our community. We serve the cause of Christ, and we are not holding evil at bay for our own glorification, but to give others the opportunity to receive salvation, and to serve God.

Regarding windows security on doors of the children's classrooms. There is a company in Ohio ( i believe) that makes custom steel panels tgat can be rolled over the windows similarly to a barn door. Not sure its bullet proof but it does lock in place when deployed, it prevents observation and will prevent someone from gaining entry from breaking the windows and reaching in yo unlock the door.

FWIW, I think the President said yesterday that there is no drone threat to California after all.

One thing to avoid is becoming the boy who cried wolf too often. Making us do so may even be part of terrorists' plans, hoping that by the time they actually attack something, we'll all be burned out from daily alerts.

I addressed the drone issue over at my other channel. I was pretty clear that it was all unverified and I explained where it came from. I don't think I ever cried wolf. In fact, I stated last week we'd have a church shooter this week, which we did. I think I've been pretty spot on with my assessments.

Jim Manning's avatar

True enough, but it's good to warn others that "such" is a possibility. I'm thinking of getting a camera drone as some of my neighbors have. Thoughts?

Jim Strasma's avatar

A drone might be a great way to safely and quickly clear rooms within a building. For use outdoors, I prefer hi-res permanently-mounted cameras, as those can be always on.

Our local police force has some pre-positioned drones around town that can be activated quickly as needed in time of trouble. However, they do NOT want our ham radio group that works with them as volunteers to also fly the drones a couple of our members own, to avoid confusion in time of trouble.

Agree with assessments.

Thank you for the information regarding the current drone attack threats to the California coast and the general intel that church’s are not the primary target at this time.

Jim Manning's avatar

Yes, unlikely doesn't mean won't.

I watched your live briefing yesterday and thought you should have probably gone red then. Keep up the good work.

It doesn’t seem like it when you read the newsletter, but there is a lot that goes into it. I talked to other Intel analysts, talk to friends at joint terrorism, task force, look at all the warnings and indicators, and then putting all the data for you. Events are just evolving to quickly.
